I am going to start out with the trigger warnings for this book…Rape, Depression, Physical & Verbal Abuse.
That being said…this was definitely a surprise book for me! I did not expect to like it as much as I did!! This is the first book that I have read/listened to by Brittainy Cherry and it certainly won’t be the last. She touched on some really tough topics and did it beautifully!
Oliver suddenly loses his twin brother who also happens to be the other half of their band. He has to hit rock bottom before things can get any better for him. He happened upon a bar where Emery was working - things got out of hand and she was there to rescue him. To her surprise, he managed to save her too!
I think the characters in this book were great. It really was a rollercoaster of emotions - I laughed, I cried and I was angry! The girlfriend, the parents - such awful people! The neighbor/therapist was lovely! Reese was a cute character but for me, something was missing there with her. :/
I thought there were some great quotes in this book and some good music on the playlist. I was hoping that the part when the two sisters met Alex & Oliver would circle back to Emery and her sister???
