Greenhouse, Seedling & Recycling!

I am so excited to be planning a garden again this year! I didn't do much for gardening/yardwork last year so I am really looking forward to harvesting later this year.  A few years back we built some garden boxes  since the wildlife seem to eat more of the veggies than we did.

As soon as the weather started getting warmer here, I worked on the gardens and started some seeds. I have never been so glad for spring to get here. And it is probably the earliest that I have had yard prepped. I am really ready to go. It is even more exciting because I started taking a Grow Your Own Edible Garden class through the library. So far I am really enjoying it. Hoping to learn a lot of stuff so that I have the best grow season ever!

Today my mini greenhouse was delivered. It took me forever to actually order it because I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I typically just buy plants but this year I decided to start my plants by seed. So far peas, cucumbers, basil, lettuce, kale and some roma tomato plants have sprouted. After I put the greenhouse together, I filled it up with me seedlings as well as a few store bought plants that I have. Tonight the temperature is supposed to drop but I am not worried since almost everything that has sprouted is a cool weather plant. I also did a second round of seedlings and started planting my herbs.

How cool is this...I saw these ideas on TikTok. I reused Keurig cups (cleaned them out) and planted seeds in them. It is perfect because they have a drainage hole from being used. Very clever! The other great idea I found was to use a rinsed milk jug to make a tiny greenhouse where I have started my leaf lettuces...which have already sprouted!!! I also saved containers from my strawberries and even rotisserie chicken containers! It is super cool to be recycling these instead of pitching them right away.

I still have a few more seeds that I need to purchase and finish getting the garden boxes and my pots ready to put the plants in once they are big enough and it is safe from frost. I am hoping to get some more of this stuff done this weekend. :)

Are you gardening this year? If so, what are you planting? Do you have any tips or tricks to share?
