Beneath the Ice • L.A. Cotton

𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰:

Beneath the Ice is book 3 of the Lakeshore University Series by L.A. Cotton and while I haven’t read the previous two books, I feel that it can easily be read as a stand-alone.

Connor & Ella are both seniors at Lakeshore University. Connor is the star player of their hockey team and is on his way to the NHL once he graduates. He is goofy and is SO in love with Ella. She is equally in love with him but avoids talking about the future since she is unsure of what will happen to them when he goes pro.

Unfortunately, he gets injured and has to have surgery which ends his college hockey season. Ella stays by Connor’s side to help him with his recovery even when it means going home to his parents house where they clearly do not care for her. Connor gets himself in a funk and pushes everyone he cares about away and is on the verge of losing the love of his life.

I have such mixed feelings about this book. I love the story and Ella is such a sweetheart to push everything aside to take care of Connor. I know he was so unsure about his future but the way he allowed his parents to treat her infuriated me. And for them to call his ex-girlfriend to stay at their house too. I wanted to reach into the book and knock Connor upside the head for not seeing this all happen. It made me very sad for Ella to be treated that way and honestly, I wish she would have made him work more for her forgiveness.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book - I love a book that makes me feel all the feels. I will be going back and reading the previous books. I cannot wait to see what else is in-store for this group!
