Book Review:
Raise The Bar is the 2nd book in Love in 2C series by KM Gillis. It can be read as a stand-alone but Running Into You (book 1) was fantastic and I strongly suggest that you read that one first!
This is Maggie & Callum's story. They met in the previous book since their best friends are dating. Maggie recently broke up with her long term boyfriend and needed a date to her sister's wedding. She joined a dating service and they guys that ended up being duds. Thank goodness Callum happened to always be around to save her from these disastrous dates!
Maggie is a spunky, girl boss, esthetician who also makes her own skin care products. She would love to expand her business but needs the push to do it. In addition to saving her from these dates, Callum offers to help with her company goals. He is a smooth talking serial dater that is anti-relationship but offers to be her date for the wedding. Lots of back and forth, banter and drama.
This book is cute but there were some parts that I just didn't vibe with. I feel that it was too "insta-love" with Maggie especially coming out of a toxic relationship. Callum's constant denial of falling for Maggie was annoying, not to mention how he left without saying a word! I loved their nicknames, laughed at their witty comebacks and how they both put on brave faces when things go bad. I loved Maggie's self empowerment and personal growth. I cannot wait to read the next book in this series!
