To Have and To Heist was such a delight to read! I am truly loving Sara Desai’s writing style. This is the 3rd book that I have read by her and thoroughly enjoyed ALL of them!
I will say that this book did take me a minute to warm-up to this book even though I was laughing all the way from beginning to end. I absolutely loved the banter!!! It was the perfect blend of Oceans Eleven, Finlay Donovan and The Wedding Planner. It was very well written but a few times in the book, I felt that it was a little too wordy. Regardless, I loved this book!
I loved how Simi would do anything for her bestie Chloe and her daughter including committing a crime. Simi is just so loyal, full of sass and witty comebacks. Her devotion was really one of the best parts of this book. The shenanigans that happened throughout this book were just so entertaining. I could definitely see this book being turned into a movie!
Jack…so handsome & mysterious! I loved his knowledge of all of the botanicals. He did give off a lot of shady vibes but in the end, I really fell for him. His backstory with his grandmother was just heartbreaking. You could definitely tell the ways that it defined him as a person. As much as I enjoyed Detective Garcia, I was Team Jack all the way! This potential love triangle totally gave me Janet Evanowich’s Stephanie Plum feels!!!
All of the side characters were a blast to get to know. I loved each and everyone of them. They were all misfits and it was a delight to watch all of the character growth amongst them. I was a little worried that this group wouldn’t be able to pull off the wedding/heist but the group effort to get the job done was highly comical. Loaded with twists and turns, I would highly recommend this book to those who are looking for a really good summer romcom! I really hope that the story of this bunch continues on into a sequel!
