Reeling after falling prey to a Romeo con-artist who just waltzed away with the better part of her belongings, Natalie Maynard works closely with the detective assigned to her case, only the few leads have led nowhere.

Detective Randy Fellowes can’t promise Natalie restitution, but he’s determined to find the culprit and serve up justice. Married to his work, he’s caught off guard when Natalie has his thoughts wandering to more than the case.

Natalie soon seeks refuge in the one thing she still owns ― an old fishing cabin in the mountains of Chestnut Ridge. She quickly falls in love with the town and the eccentric people who are teaching her so much about the area and its heritage.

Through these people, and the determination of Detective Fellowes, she rediscovers her courage, self, and a reason to risk love again.

𝐌𝐲 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:

This is the second book that I have read by Nancy Naigle (first being, The Wedding Ranch) and I really enjoyed it. I did think this was part of a series with that book so I had to go back and check. This book is the first of her new Chestnut Ridge Series. I look forward to reading more from this series!

What a shocker coming back from a wonderful vacation to find everything gone! It is terrible knowing that cons like this happen everyday not only in this book but in real life too. While I did feel for her I thought that Natalie was a little over the top naive when she found out that it happened to her.

I did feel that the relationship with Randy and Natalie was a little cheesy & rushed. I would have personally loved Natalie finding love with Tucker. I absolutely love the townspeople (there were a few that I felt were unnecessary ) and how they took her in like family. I don’t doubt her love for her husband at all but I feel like there was just SO much she didn’t know about him/the town. I loved Paul & Orene!
