Mackenzie Jean runs a successful business with her pro-hockey brother. She has been thinking about moving out on her own but first she wants to finish her college degree that she started while at NYU. She suffers from anxiety but has decided to go all in with her education at a new school while finding herself again.
Aiden Fuller is a MSU hockey player who gets suspended from the game for partaking in a dare from his teammates. While on suspension he meets Kenzie at a local bar during Welcome Weekend. He knows she is different when he first meets her - she could be “the one” for him. Unfortunately for him, she does not date hockey players and takes off once she realizes that he is one. Along comes a little fake dating, and the rest is history...with a few bumps along the way.
I absolutely LOVED this book! This is the first book that I have read by Amanda and it certainly won't be the last! It is part of a series but can be read as a stand-alone. I really enjoyed her writing style and how I felt like I was right there on the MSU campus. I was so excited to find out that this book takes place in my state/area. I loved knowing the places that were mentioned in here! My kids have several friends that go to MSU and so the author's note was a lovely tribute that really hit home for me.
It was refreshing to see a character with anxiety representation and how this strong FMC was a strong, successful college student. And oh Aiden…he is a hunk! I loved seeing his transformation in this book from a player to a good boyfriend. The chemistry between them was just sparking off the pages. I absolutely loved Kenzie’s sass!
All of the side characters were fun to meet - I can’t wait to go back and read some of their stories to get to know them better and I REALLY can’t wait to read the next of this series!
The only thing that I really didn’t care for was the over usage of the “bunny” nickname, especially after she said it bothered her on multiple occasions
This book has…
Fake Dating
Sports Romance
Found Family
Mental Health Awareness
Thank you to Grey’s Promotion & Amanda Chaperon for the ARC of this book for my honest review!
