My Thoughts:
I decided at the last minute to read this book on November 9 and finished it that day. It was a fast read!
Fallon meets Ben unexpectedly at a cafe where she is having dinner with her father on the anniversary of her accident (she was in a fire and has some scars). Ben overhears the awful things that Fallon’s dad is saying and steps in by pretending to be her boyfriend where he has no problem sticking up for her. After spending the rest of the day together, they are both interested in each other but Fallon has a life-plan where she does not want to get seriously involved with anyone until she is 23 years old. Ben proposes a plan where they will meet everyday on November 9th with no communication between the yearly visits. If it is meant to be after 5 years (and they are still interested in each other), they can decide to pursue the relationship then. They learn a little more about each other each year and seem to still be interested in each other with each passing year…until some twists are thrown into the mix.
I felt all of those feelings while I read this book. It was an emotional roller coaster for me but in the end it was totally worth it. Sure there are some things in this book that I didn’t agree with but honestly, I don't feel like Colleen Hoover is condoning these types of behavior. I think these two characters are perfect for each other and they really brought the best out in each other. Fallons confidence soared. Ben was able to get out of the downward spiral he was in.
The thing I love about Colleen Hoover books is that they REALLY make you feel…no matter what the feelings are - happiness, love, anger, sadness, etc. That to me is really what makes a great author! Even with sensitive topics this book definitely does that!!!
