The Right Kind of Unexpected (NetGalley Book Review)

Book Summary:

Tess hasn’t experienced many kindnesses in her eighteen years. When her boyfriend abandons her at a small-town gas station, it’s not a surprise, just one more crappy event to add to the pile. Without a car, money, or cell phone, her options are limited, and calling her parents isn’t one of them, so when the family that owns the station throws her a lifeline, she grabs hold. Because even the worst situations can have a silver lining, and this one is a town called Jasper Creek, a diner everyone calls Earl’s, and a young mechanic named Colten Reed.

My Review:

If you love someone, set them free. If they come back they're yours;
if they don't they never were.

This saying is what came to mind when I finished this amazing book!!! I thoroughly enjoyed this book even more so than I had expected!

Tess is a privileged 18 year old from New York who takes off on a spur of the moment trip with her boyfriend who ditches her while she is using the restroom at a small town gas station. She meets 20 year old Colten and his family who graciously take her in, give her a job & a place to live while she figures out what her next steps are since she doesn't have supportive parents. They show her a loving family life that she didn't know existed. Not only does she make changes within herself, she encourages (sometimes unknowingly) changes in everyone she meets in Jasper Creek!

This was such a super cute story that really drew me in from the first page! This book made me feel all the feelings...I laughed, cried, felt heart broken, anger and frustration. I loved the small town vibe - I could totally live there! I loved all of the characters and how they developed throughout the story - I could see myself being friends with all of them...even grouchy Jeb! I truly felt the connection between Tess and Colten. The connections that Tess made in Jasper Creek were so strong that it seemed like she was there for more than a few weeks. She just fell right into place in these peoples lives!

I could not put this book down and it will definitely be on my re-read list! I would highly recommend book!
