Good Monday Morning!!! It was so nice to sleep in just a little but and not get Ben off to school! I now get to enjoy my coffee and get some reading in! Yesterday I was able to find Gretchen Rubin's books at a fraction of the cost that Barnes & Nobel is asking for them so I ordered them! I am pretty excited about that!!! I also started listening to her podcast with her sister - and the type of person that I am, I went to the very beginning and I am working my way to current. It's pretty cool hearing stuff that I have read in the Happiness Project so far (where I am at she just released another book so she discusses that some too). I am excited to listen to this when I am doing housework, working on embroidery stuff and walking!!! YEP, you did read embroidery stuff, I finished my room yesterday!!! I will post photos later and I am hoping to get the machines up and running today!
Ok...back to the book...
I already posted the May goals from the Happiness Project and I have to say that I am so looking forward to these goals!!! Even though I am readying ahead from where we are in the year, it is allowing me to plan and get some ideas of how I can incorporate these goals in my everyday life!!!
May is about having fun and being serious about play! It was a great chapter and I do realize that some of this may be a slight struggle for me. I have found that I have gotten super serious as I have gotten older and I just really need to chill and find time for silly stuff!
Studies have shown that a phenomenon called "emotional contagion", we unconsciously catch emotions from other people - whether good moods or bad ones. Taking the time to be sill means that we're infecting one another with good cheer, and people who enjoy silliness are one third more likely to be happy.
This passage from the book really hit me. Especially in today's world with all of the seriousness of Covid and all of the rules, guidelines, precautions, etc. It has made society as I see it at a loss for silliness. There is so much negativity and fighting out on social media and in the world. It has caused some huge divides among people that it normally wouldn't.
